How to Continue Thriving in 2024: 3 Habits to Get Fit

I’m not a fan of NYRs, but I believe in the power of habits. Instead of using these first days of 2024 to craft resolutions that we won’t stick to, we can dedicate ourselves to simple and achievable changes. If you want to succeed, commit to bite-sized, specific goals that are most important to you. And focus on the positive! Negative resolutions keep us in a fixed mindset when we don’t see the results we want. Sticking with small habits will lead to big changes in the long run.

So, instead of goals to “cut out sugar” or “lose 10 pounds,” here are three habits we can start today.

Tend to our physical AND emotional health.

The science behind the mind-body connection for ultimate health is well documented. Our brains hold the keys to our overall health. They are the first to be impacted by unhealthy behaviors, thoughts, and actions, creating a (physical) chain reaction inside our bodies.

When we take care of our brains and our bodies, we uplevel our wellness entirely. There’s power in consistent positivity.

Listen to our bodies. 

While it may be tempting to follow every trend or fad, it’s most important to notice how different choices impact our own bodies.. We are the experts of our own journey. We have to do what works for our bodies and our lives. If something is working for our friends, colleagues or family members, but not for us… leave it behind. Our bodies know what is best and we are our best advocates. 

Decide that fitness is our top priority.

Wellness and fitness are a choice. Commitment is the  most important factor for our chances for success: we have to choose our wellness each and every day. Our dedication to ourselves will prompt us to exercise, lead us to put ourselves first on our calendars, and inspire us to fuel our bodies. Believe me, when we decide to commit to wellness, our bodies will show it.
