Artist Spotlight: Aurélie Baudry Palmer

Spring brings a sense of freshness and newness to our homes. At Boxwood, we are excited to help you find vibrant and colorful additions to your living spaces. Currently, our store is filled with must-haves for spring entertaining and meaningful items that are sure to add a pop to your home.

A few years ago, I met an artist named Aurélie Baudry Palmer who drew me in with stunning watercolor illustrations that captured the beauty of Old Town. We sold her notecards throughout the holiday season, and now are excited to see how her creative eye brings the joy and vibrancy of Old Town’s spring to life on paper. I am thrilled to welcome Aurélie to Boxwood for a special “Meet the Artist” event.

Join us on Tuesday, April 25 from 5pm to 7pm to meet Aurélie in person and learn more about her work, including commissioned house portraits. We will have champagne, wine, and savories for our guests, and we will offer a 15 percent discount on all purchases made during the event.

Aurélie is a talented artist who hand paints bespoke illustrations for individual and corporate clients. Originally from Cognac, France, she now resides in London where she is inspired by the city's history, architecture, and community. Aurélie's work includes original ink and watercolors that have taken shape in stationery, holiday cards, calendars, house portraits, textiles, and corporate marketing materials. Her impressive work has been shown in various galleries in Paris and was even featured in the Fortnum & Mason Christmas window on Piccadilly Street.

In December 2022, Aurélie created a commissioned piece for the Princess of Wales’ Westminster Abbey Christmas Carol concert Together at Christmas, paying tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II. Her work has been sold in Alexandria over the past two years in the form of a calendar and note cards depicting all the wonder and architectural interest of historic homes and favorite Old Town places.

Aurélie is very much looking forward to her first ‘in-person’ visit to Virginia. She can't wait to explore historic Old Town with her friends Meg and Mary and visit the sites she illustrated for the 2022 calendar and notecard sets. She is thrilled that Boxwood is hosting this event and is looking forward to meeting many people, including some she has corresponded with via social media and others whose family house portraits she has illustrated over the years.

We hope to see you at Boxwood on April 25th for a fantastic evening celebrating the arrival of spring with Aurélie and her beautiful artwork. You can folllow Aurélie on Instagram @homedrawn21.
