Stylish Knits From Across The Pond

I have always loved the Brits. My parents lived just outside London for a few years when I was out of college, but I was able to visit a few times and really fell in love. I even love the ubiquitous rainy and gray days - it reminds me of Ohio!

One of the first lines I carried , one that actually made me want to open a shoe store of my own, was the elite British line, Emma Hope. When things started to pick back up, I brought in another British shoe line, Rupert Sanderson. I found them because Andrew, my old Emma Hope representative, was now working for the line. When I went to visit him in New York last year, he struck again and said there was a knitwear line I couldn’t pass up, Arch4. It was the coziest line I had seen, which means, in fact, that it was hard for me to pass up.

For the winter, they not only have great turtlenecks and chunky knits, but they also have cardigans that mimic the feminine elegance of Coco Chanel and her lady-like looks. We even ordered pleated skirts!

When it was time to show off these new arrivals, I knew Courtney was the perfect person to model.  While the pieces are lady-like and feminine, we like styling them with a bit more edge, which is just like Courtney’s style. She made the ballet-wrap sweater look cool, and it’s hard to not want to run in and buy that pleated skirt.

If you are in town over the holidays, come in and shop our newest arrivals! Of course, they are always online, too.

Owner | The Hive, The Shoe Hive, and Yellow Jacket

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
