The Shoe Hive Celebrates 20 Years: Mark Your Calendars for Anniversary Festivities

It’s hard to believe that next week we’ll be celebrating 20 years in business. The time has flown by and it feels like it was another lifetime when we opened our doors.

Please help us celebrate and mark your calendars for all our anniversary festivities:

It wouldn’t be The Shoe Hive and The Hive if we didn’t kick off our weekend with a party - and you, our loyal clients, are what we are celebrating!

Stop by Thursday, October 12 for cocktails in the courtyard from 5 to 8pm at The Shoe Hive. Everyone's favorite new restaurant, Rubia’s, will be preparing the food and fun. Of course, we couldn’t leave the other two stores out so they will be open until 8 pm, too. Not sure if anyone else has parents who attend progressive parties, but for my retired parents, that passes for big fun in Vero Beach. And no I don’t mean progressive political parties – it’s when you start the night with appetizers at one house then move to a new home for the next course, and so on. That is how I am imagining Thursday, with a different drink at each store!

On Thursday night, we will also be hosting the Hart Team who will be making custom necklaces from 4 to 8pm, and they will be back on Friday from 10am to 4pm.

The fun in the Courtyard doesn’t stop there. On Friday, October 13, Helen Olivia will be on hand from 11am to 2pm to host a Parisian-style flower market. Come make a bouquet, on us, as a thanks for supporting us for the last 20 years.

We couldn’t let The Shoe Hive have all the fun, so we are bringing back Ranger Stitch, the best embroiderer I know. Matthew will be at 315 Cameron Street on Friday from 2pm to 6pm, and Saturday 11am to 3pm. You get free stitching with purchase, or you can bring your own item for a small fee. But wait, there is more: since Ranger Stitch goes well with denim we are hosting a Citizens of Humanity trunk show along with Ranger Stitch. It’s pretty much the perfect pairing!

What a week we are going to have! We hope to see you and thank you for 20 years of support.

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
