I’ve learned a lot during my years in the beauty industry. Some of these nuggets have been valuable life lessons (pro tip: don’t cut all your hair off during Post Breakup Stress Disorder.), but more have been about how to get great results out of what products you choose to use.
Some of these tips have been as simple as exfoliating your lips before applying a matte lipstick; others have been much more complicated, involving putting a single drop of black semi-permanent haircolor into a wheat-blonde toner to achieve the perfect shade.
When we put a pro tip into a Stylebook piece, we’re trying to utilize the phrase, “Help a sister out!” If my experience benefits you, of course I’ll share! It’s how I learned how to apply mascara to my clients, and it’s how my sister learned to “plop” her curly hair for the best result (thanks, Buzzfeed!). I’m fairly certain it’s where books like He’s Just Not That Into You came from, and I’m positive it’s what sparked the idea for children’s vitamins that taste like candy.
The world of beauty products can be intimidating, but the good news is that it doesn’t have to be! We pros are here to make your life easier. We’re here to make sure you always look your best because the things you buy to use on your hair, skin, and nails are working the very best for you. Isn’t that what friends are for?
Oh, and all of the pro tips are Pinterest-ready, so pin away for future reference!
