A Magical Engagement (+ a Penny Preville Trunk Show)

Wedding season has officially kicked off in Alexandria, and if you have been by the Old Town Waterfront any Saturday over the past few weeks, you would certainly agree! However, my favorite part of any wedding is actually the proposal. Getting engaged can be so magical.

Each person views a “magical engagement” differently – some people dream of getting engaged at Walt Disney World or a destination engagement, while others want to celebrate with loved ones and friends – but here are my top picks when I think about the perfect proposal.

1.  A Tropical Island

Nothing says romance quite like a relaxing trip to the islands.  Propose while sipping champagne at sunset to make the night even more magical.

2. A Hot Air Balloon Ride

Make your engagement memorable by doing something you’ve always wanted to do – such as taking a hot air balloon ride.  Be careful not to drop the ring over the side!

3. At the Eiffel Tower

If you’ve ever been to Paris, you’re probably familiar with the lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower.  Pack a picnic and spend the day relishing your loved one’s company with a remarkable view.

4. Create Your Own

If none of these quite hit the mark on what magical means to you, create your own day to remember.  I particularly love the look of a whimsical setting, like this one from The Floral Experience.

Where would be your magical place to say YES!?

If an engagement is on the horizon for you and your partner, you are in luck!  Mystique is hosting Penny Preville for a trunk show tomorrow, April 20, right here in Old Town.  Her bridal collection is simply stunning and includes the classic solitaire, a trendy halo, the retro-cut emerald, and many more designs that are sure to make every bride-to-be’s dream ring a reality.

Penny Preville designs do not just include bridal; her collections range from art deco to feathered designs.  Fusing old world techniques and details with a contemporary sensibility, Preville’s collections strike a balance between elegance, fashion, innovation, and wearability.

Her jewelry has been worn through the years by celebrities on the red carpet, in movie and television productions, and in their personal lives.  Celebrity enthusiasts who wear and collect her designs include Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Emmy Rossum, Blake Lively, Halle Berry, and Oprah Winfrey.

Stop by the store tomorrow from 10:30am to 5:30pm to see the Penny Preville collection.  Mystique will be offering 10 percent off during the show – just mention that you read this post on Stylebook.
