Opening a clothing boutique was always something I had in the back of my mind. I simply just love clothing. I knew of great brands like Rag & Bone, Veronica Beard, Ulla Johnson, and Current/Elliot that I wanted to bring to Old Town. I have been personally buying these brands for years for my own wardrobe and I knew others here must be as well.
When I started curating lines for The Hive, I made sure we had some accessible price points like English Factory and The Coverii, which retail for under or around $100. But I also wanted to bring in some collections to the store that you couldn’t find other places and were truly special pieces — more works of art than clothing, really.
The brand that I most wanted to bring was Yigal Azrouël. I had bought a few pieces and they were the dresses I always grabbed when I had a special event, you know, the times when I just wanted to knock it out of the park.
Yigal, raised in Israel and of French and Moroccan descent, is inspired by his vast travels and is known for his feminine yet modern designs. Started in 1998, his line is truly a Ready-to-Wear Collection. Handmade in New York City, the fabrics are exquisite, the craftsmanship is perfection, and the pieces truly are works of art.
Here is a behind the scenes look at the artistry behind a Yigal collection:
