The 12 Days of Christmas at Penny Post & Red Barn Mercantile

Remember last week when I told you there are no new ideas, well today is the perfect example of that. Or, rather, I like to believe it’s the perfect example of great minds thinking alike. Today both Elizabeth and I are announcing the “12 Days of Christmas” at all of our stores. I love it! This means you have twice the number of opportunities to save – and shop local! – this holiday season.

We handpicked 12 of our favorite things – sans the raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens – that we will be offering at special pricing starting today through December 14th. Each evening we will announce the next day’s favorite thing on Instagram and you will have one day to come in and scoop it up.  So be sure to follow @shoppennypost and @redbarnmerc!

To kick things off at Red Barn Mercantile, we are thrilled to offer 30 percent off Sydney Hale Co.’s Fir and Blue Sage candle (originally $32). Our number one candle line is made in Virginia with a soy wax blend and 50-hour burn time. They smell so heavenly that folks stock up, so they never run out. Let the Fir and Blue Sage candle set the holiday mood every day this season and all year long.

And, to jump start things at Penny Post we are offering 30 percent off Kaweco’s Brass Sport Fountain Pen (originally $110). We love the weight and feel of this pen. It is simply gorgeous. So good looking, in fact, that it made the pages of Washingtonian’s Gift Guide. Test drive one in the store then special order the nib size you like best.

We hope you are as excited about this holiday season as we are. Now’s the time to set the appropriate notifications and be on high alert because we have great gift ideas at even greater prices coming at ya over the next 12 Days of Christmas!

  • The latest from Amy
Owner Amy Rutherford started Red Barn because she wanted to deliver a service — to provide both old and new in one place. No longer will busy shoppers be limited to reproductions or forced to shop multiple flea markets for the look or gifts they want. The trick in blending old and new, vintage and modern, classic and quirky, is balance. And Amy’s knack for mixing rustic antiques with urban chic has created a look that is both fresh and familiar.

Red Barn Mercantile opened its doors in September 2007 with a single vision in mind: providing old and new to offer our customers signature whole-room designs at great prices.

We’re more than a furniture boutique and provide more personalized service than a big box retailer. We work hard to bring you the highest quality furniture and gifts, the most unique conversation starters, wall hangings and accent pieces, whether they come from off-the-beaten-track flea markets, or the latest designers.
