Every fall and spring we have a series of trunk shows. It is our way to launch the season and help bring in an expanded selection from some of our brands to our stores. I have gone back and forth about what to do about trunk shows for fall 2020 – our first new fashion season in the COVID era.
As I sat pondering this question on the back porch of our cabin on Virginia’s Northern Neck, wearing the exact same sweatpants and Benton’s Bacon t-shirt that I had literally worn for 50 percent of the summer’s days, I realized: I’d better do something. If not for everyone else, I need to do something to get myself out of my summer fashion slump. I have enjoyed my time away and I’ve benefitted by working on my business and not in it, but Lord, I’ve gotten to the point where I need a compelling reason to put a brush through my hair. I often wonder for everyone that I work with if it is more annoying to have me at the store asking them a million questions or being away and texting and emailing a million times each day. I have a hunch.
Well, I am now ready to get back to it. And since I don’t like to do anything halfway, I have planned seven trunk shows for fall. You heard me: seven. By the time you’re reading this, two will have already happened; but don’t’ worry, there are five more to go, and of course, I have more things in the works.
Now I’d like to fill everyone in on our plans for the next few weeks. We will put as much on the website as we can, so you can shop from the comfort and safety of your home. We now have an outside tent at the clothing store as well, so we have space for you to wait if the store is crowded, or we will have a little shopping outside at both stores as well.
This week’s event is a little more difficult to shop online. It was originally planned for April and we are so excited to finally have our representative, Lauren, from W. Kleinberg in our store with all their leathers and styles so you can make your own custom belt. That is right, you pick what you want, and they will make it just for you. We will still have our in-store selection of belts online. Of course, all W. Kleinberg belts are 20 percent off for the weekend.
Below you can find our list of events and our selection of W. Kleinberg belts. Come see us, and I promise I will get out of my sweats and t-shirt, at least when I work in the store.
