Explore, Create & Shop During Old Town Alexandria’s Makers Mile: Mini Edition

Summer is in full swing and if your kids aren’t in camp, or on a swim team, or visiting Grandma in Ohio, then you might be looking for something fun to occupy their time. One of the things my kids and I always enjoyed was walking around town looking for Waldo. We would take all month to find him in the stores and local businesses. It was a great way to get kids out of the house and I got to do a little bit of shopping, exploring, and eating more than PB&Js at home. This event was fun for me as a mom and continues to be fun for me as an adult. I love when the little people come in searching in earnest for Waldo, so naturally, Red Barn Mercantile and Penny Post are excited to participate in the hunt again this July.  [two_third]We are equally excited to bring back our wildly successful Makers Mile, but this time geared towards Makers-in-the-making. If you have kids 10 or older who are creative, who like to learn, or who just want to do something unique this summer, then bring them down to Old Town this July 19-21 for the first-ever Makers Mile Mini.Register today and we will reserve a Corkcicle water bottle so you can stay hydrated as you walk Makers Mile. With your water bottle you’ll receive a limited-edition vinyl sticker, made especially for decorating your water bottle, and participate in “make-and-take” craft stations, where you can practice your crafty skills and take home your new handmade item!Five of your favorite boutiques will be hosting young and old alike during this craftastic (yes, I said it!) event where each person will experience everything from paper and paint to fabric, yarn, and more. And, new for this event are treats from our restaurant partners Meggrolls and Nice Cream. Each will be offering specials to our Makers Mile Mini-ers.
