6 Ways To Repair, Refresh And Rejuvenate Your Jewelry

Summertime’s more active lifestyle and fun in the sun can take a toll on your jewelry. Abrasive sand, sticky sunscreen, and lotions, the jostling during exercise — all can make well-loved pieces become well-worn. Visit us Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Our on-premises goldsmith will inspect your jewelry while you wait and advise you on what can be done. Here are six ways we can bring your jewelry’s beauty back, breathing new life into your collection:

Refresh

Metals and gemstones aren’t as impervious as you might think. Gold, platinum, and silver are actually somewhat soft metals. And not all gemstones are as hard as diamonds. Opals, emeralds, and pearls are particularly susceptible to small scratches and abrasions, which make them look dull and worn over time. Even something as simple as hand lotion can build up in delicate filigree and small crevasses, causing gemstones and precious metals to lose their sparkle. Our experts know which cleaning, buffing, and polishing techniques should be used to safely restore your jewelry’s luster.

Repair

Even a relatively light impact at the wrong place can knock a small stone out of its setting. And the simple sliding of a pendant along its chain can eventually wear completely through the bail.

Our in-house jeweler and goldsmith can tighten or replace prongs, fix broken clasps, restring pearls and beads, and more. We also offer watch repair by a master watch technician who will handle everything from routine polishes to custom restorations.

Reset

Our jewelers can replace the stones in any setting — solitaires, multi-stone rings, channel and bezel settings, or even tightly grouped pavé settings. We’ll also set your loose gemstones in mountings, whether they’re precious, semi-precious, or colored stones.

Resize

Fluctuations in weight can make our favorite rings unwearable. A weight increase can make our fingers feel constricted. On the flip side, weight loss can make our rings more susceptible to falling off. Perhaps you have received a ring that doesn’t quite fit. Our jewelry experts know how to resize your jewelry so the look is seamless and the level of comfort and security is optimal.

Another resizing consideration: clasps. Sometimes these are so tiny they are difficult to open and close — or even see! We can make your bracelet and necklace clasps larger or in a different style that is easier to manipulate.

Redesign

Do you have a piece of jewelry that looks dated? Maybe you’re tired of that necklace? Or perhaps you simply want to make a piece your own — change it into something that better suits your taste and personality. Our educated staff has collectively been in the jewelry business for over 50 years and has the experience and vision to make your ideas a reality.

Re-home

Are you ready to refresh your jewelry wardrobe by exchanging a piece or two? We’ll buy your gold, platinum, diamond, and precious gemstone jewelry. Bring us your vintage and estate pieces, and we’ll discuss your jewelry’s value and marketability. (Please also bring a valid driver’s license and a second form of identification.) Make space for something new! And, we can help you find a perfect replacement!
