A Dream Wedding In Alexandria

There are few things in life we at Helen Olivia love more than garden parties, flowers, and brunch. This wedding ticked all the boxes and was an absolute dream to bring to life. We’re so excited to share it with you.

It’s safe to say that the pandemic has shaken up the wedding industry over the last two years. In my opinion, in a really great way. Gone are the days when couples feel pressured to have the black tie wedding at their parent’s country club. Instead, we’re seeing so many couples opt for more intimate weddings, unique venues, and less traditional selections.

When we were approached to provide flowers for an outdoor River Farm wedding this past June, we were delighted. Planner Natalie Schlosser of Pamela Barefoot Events was a dream to work with and pulled together endless small details that transformed an already gorgeous venue into an intimate, whimsical garden wonderland.

Helen Olivia designer, Madison, worked with the bride and her planner to design the floral elements - from a full ceiling treatment of gorgeous vining greens - to a stunning floral arch for the ceremony. Smaller details, like a greenery accent for the vintage car, made for fun accents in unexpected places: our favorite - a gorgeous garden display for all of the escort cards.

Hands down, our favorite part of this wedding was the decision by the couple to opt for a brunch-time wedding. Why? Because they love brunch and couldn’t imagine a more perfect meal to share with their guests. The caterer, Occasions Caterers, did a beautiful job of using fresh, seasonal foods and crafting a beautiful selection of brunch cocktails for guests.

While every element of this wedding was stunning in its own right, the showstopper for us was the tent. The entrance to the tent was marked by a gorgeous floral installation, and the eye was drawn up to marvel at greenery woven through the tent ceiling and the hanging chandeliers. Guests sat at a combination of long wooden tables and more traditional round tables with beautiful linens. The feel was soft, layered, and textural.

At the end of the wedding, the bride and groom were whisked off in a vintage car complete with a greenery accent.

Cheers to one of the sweetest couples we’ve ever worked with - wishing you both a lifetime of happiness (and brunching!).
