A New Form Of Bespoke Clothing
Commissioning a bespoke clothing design is a personalized experience that brings your individual style to life. At A.Oei Studio, each piece is meticulously handmade in the studio with your needs in mind.
As a self-contained atelier, I design, create textile patterns, source for sustainable materials, draft paper patterns, and sew the garment to completion. This process fosters a creative collaboration between the wearer and the maker, resulting in a unique product and experience. By incorporating versatility and timelessness into the designs, my goal is to make the craft of bespoke clothing more relevant and approachable for the modern woman.
Some of the services I offer are: customization of size and fabric of current A.Oei Styles, made-to-measure dresses and qipao/cheongsam. For more details, please schedule a consultation.
Here are some examples of recent bespoke creations:
1. Isabel Gown: A contemporary interpretation of the qipao, this gown was cut in a 3D floral embroidered mesh, a red cranberry silk satin as the base, and a silk habotai lining. To lighten the heavy texture of the floral pattern, I designed an open back and used the original scallop edge of the fabric to outline the back. A clean, streamlined silhouette keeps the focus on the textured layers of the gown.
2. Column Dress, Glide Print: This is a simple column dress that fully expresses the Glide Print on a crisp and lustrous cotton-silk. A signature A.Oei textile, the Glide Print is a hand-sketched pattern of a hawk and a garden city that evokes a sense of renewed optimism.
