Yellow Jacket has officially been open for a year now. It’s hard to believe that 12 months have passed and it’s even harder to believe how much we have learned along the way. The store has changed so much in such a short time. 

If you shopped in our initial “pop-up” iteration last holiday season, you know we were just starting off. The store still looked like The Hive and our selection was limited. This was mainly based on the fact that we decided at the last minute to expand The Hive and open Yellow Jacket. Our choices for inventory were restricted because most lines’ ordering deadlines had passed. I have always been a “take advantage when opportunity knocks” person, and that is what happened last summer. I knew we had a window to give it a try, so we tried.

Early last winter, we remodeled our store and went to the men’s market in Chicago for the first time. We are now in our first season where we have our shelves and racks stocked with items we love. We didn’t have to pick only from what was available, we got to pick things we loved. In fact, we probably have gone a little overboard, which is pretty normal for me. I tend to live by the “go big or go home” theory.

During the last holiday shopping season, I heard folks mention they wanted a larger selection or they needed more sizes. Well, I am here to tell you now, we have more. We have much more from great brands like Vince, Johnnie O, Onward Reserve, Sid Mashburn, Tasc Performance, Johnstons of Elgin, Paige, and more.

So, if you are getting ready to shop this holiday season for the man in your life who is trying to figure out how to dress in a post-COVID era, come see us! Or, maybe they just need to upgrade their look. We have so many great options!

In fact, I am comfortable saying we have the best men’s collection in the Washington, D.C. area. Not a lot of men know about our store, but when they come in for the first time, the most common reaction is “we have needed this store for a long time.” My number one focus group is my husband. He has bought clothes for 20 years from a men’s store eight hours away or from golf pro shops because of the few options for men’s shopping to his taste here. He’s not the only one, but Yellow Jacket is made to solve this problem.

Here is the best part. We are opening at 6am for the first time on Black Friday! That’s right – from 6am to 8am the entire Yellow Jacket store will be 30 percent off. It will move to 20 percent off from 8am to 10am, then 10 percent off for the rest of the day. We will also be ready for Cyber Monday as well.
