Ready, Set, GLOW!

I once hated anything dewy as I equated dewy with greasy. I have very oily skin and would constantly blot throughout the day and reapply powder religiously at the first sign of shine. Matte was my mantra. Mattifying products, my magic. Until one day I woke up and realized my age was showing under my mattifying face powder. Gone are the days of flat and matte, alive are the days of dewy and glowy. And I will never go back.

There is a fine line between dewy and greasy; and glowy and sparkly. Greasy skin can emphasize texture and cause makeup to shift. Highlighters with too much glitter can also emphasize texture and have our faces looking like a disco ball. Here are our picks for the best products, based on your skin type, to have you glowing all day:

Normal/Dry Skin

Westman Atelier’s line is the definition of glow. Their Vital Skin Foundation Stick has a molten texture that melts into skin to leave it radiant yet natural. Basically, your skin but dewier. Applying setting powder on top can make dry skin drier, so we recommend the Coola Makeup Setting Spray SPF 30 to protect your skin and lock in that glow.

Add an extra radiant splash with a dab of Westman Atelier’s Lit Up Sticks on cheeks, lips, and lids. These highlighters leave a lit-from-within look with a dewy and glassy finish. We recommend Pärla for warmer skin tones and Nectar for cooler skin tones.

Oily/Combo Skin

When it comes to oily skin, setting powders are essential to makeup staying put. Most setting powders are usually too mattifying and leave the skin looking flat. That is why we absolutely love Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder in Glow. This powder leaves a radiant finish and keeps makeup locked in for a worry-free day of flawlessness. If you struggle with just an oily t-zone, apply powder to t-zone only and use Coola’s Makeup Setting Spray for the rest.

For an added highlight to the top of your cheekbones, bridge of your nose, and your cupid’s bow, the RMS Luminizing Powder in Grande Dame and Midnight Hour leaves a glowy finish with no glittery sparkle. Just the right amount of glimmer to capture the light in all the right ways.

Why stop the glow on your face? Spread the glow with Nuxe’s Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil. This formulation is drier than other body oils and does not leave you feeling slick or greasy. It also helps to moisturize and protect with Vitamin E and a cocktail of six other precious oils and can also be used in hair for shine where you want it. Did I mention it smells heavenly?
