Nostalgia for Easters Past Inspires Our Spring Collection at Boxwood

I often wonder why I always love preparing Boxwood for springtime. I believe the reason is because of my childhood memories of celebrating the Easter holiday. I am number six of seven children, so I come from a very large family.  I don’t know how my parents did it, but every Easter Sunday, they hosted a grand party in our backyard full of cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents, family friends and all the neighbors. I remember all the spring flowers and colors as if it were yesterday.

And the food…honey-baked ham, scalloped potatoes, eggs… tons of eggs, and candy galore. It was all so beautifully displayed on picnic tables throughout our backyard. There was a special table on the side for all the children to place their Easter baskets before the big anticipated egg hunt. I’m telling my age, but it was the late 1960s, early 70s, and in the South. I remember my mother dressed each of my sisters and me in gorgeous spring dresses, white knee-high socks with white patent leather shoes. There were all kinds of fun games that my father made my older brothers and sisters run for me and all the younger children. And for the Easter Egg Hunt, back then there were no plastic eggs. The egg hunt consisted of real eggs— all beautifully colored and decorated.

With the Easter holiday fast approaching, I can’t help but share what we still have in store for you. Bunnies, bunnies and more bunnies. Everything you need for a gorgeous Easter tablescape, chocolate, and white felt trees for all the felt Easter bunny ornaments!
