Yes, You Can DIY Your Bridal Makeup

Lately, I’ve had more and more brides deciding to do their own makeup on their wedding day. While we generally advocate having your makeup done on your big day, we can help you do it yourself with confidence. So then why do we advocate having it done? Because you have thousands of details running through your mind on your wedding day, plus bridesmaids, mom, mother-in-law all swirling around you. Whenever you have the opportunity to take something off your plate, you should. However, if you are getting married out of town and can’t do a run through, or, if after the run through you felt like running, we’re here for you.We can do a trial run where we apply the makeup, make sure you feel comfortable, make sure you look like you envisioned for your wedding day, write down each and every product we used, take photos of the final look so you can see how you will look in photographs, and show you exactly how to achieve the look yourself. We recommend taking the afternoon to test run the look and its longevity to make sure it holds up the way its expected to. That way, if you find the foundation didn’t wear the way you want, for example, we can try another.Once you’re completely satisfied with your look and have purchased your products, you should apply the makeup at home several times before the big day. The goal is to make sure that by the time you sit down to do it on your wedding day you are completely comfortable knowing how it will turn out. You want to be relaxed and happy that day, not stressed out…so don’t skip the crucial step of a few trial runs on yourself. You should also keep all the makeup planned for that day completely separate from your regular makeup. Why? Because things get forgotten. Remember those thousands of details? They are running through your mind for weeks leading up to the wedding. The last thing you want to worry about is remembering to put the blush and mascara back in the travel bag or forgetting a crucial item because all of your makeup was merged in a drawer. In fact, we suggest a separate makeup bag altogether. You want to look like you at your best that day. Whether that means having your makeup done or doing it yourself, plan ahead so that love and joy are the only things on your mind.
