Del Ray’s Popup Bar: The Newest Era
When I asked Sarah, Stylebook’s social media manager, if she wanted to check out a popup bar in Del Ray showing love for all things Taylor – she was game. I have to admit I was never a huge Taylor Swift fan until my daughter made me watch her Eras Concert Tour on Disney+ over and over and…over again. Soon I was flexing to, “If I was a man…” and jumping up on a chair for “Ready for it?”
Even my husband got into it, and was like, “Yeah, we should get tickets to her concert.” To which I rolled off the couch laughing, “her tour was over two years long and it’s over!"” Never have I had so much regret about not dropping a thousand dollars (that I don’t have) on a ticket.
Sarah is a Swiftie, but also regrettably never attended the Eras tour. So here we are, indulging in all things Taylor in Del Ray:
After this reel was posted, I got stopped both by neighbors and little kids in my daughter’s class: “We saw you on the Tok….” The what? Yes, that clip went viral on TikTok.
So for the questions Sarah and I have been fielding on behalf of Del Ray’s Popup Bar:
The drinks. You can sip through all 11 ERAS each with its own signature cocktail. I sipped three drinks that night (I didn’t finish them, I’m a responsible adult, I swear): “Cruel Summer Secrets” with Lunazul Blanco tequila from the Lover Era and “Message to the Smallest Man” with Tito’s vodka and hibiscus ginger tea from The Tortured Poets Department Era. Meg, Homegrown’s marketing director and mastermind behind many of the cocktail names, suggested “the New Me” with Hendricks gin and St. Germain grapefruit juice and more from the Evermore Era. Wow, she was right, I’ll be back for that one. Sarah had the “Isn’t It Delicate” with rosé wine and elderflower liqueur from the Reputation Era, and it came with an adorable friendship bracelet hugging its stem, which she proudly wore afterward.
There’s beer and wine, too, and five mocktails, including the aptly named, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs.”
Hungry? Swiftie Bites include options from queso to sliders to empanadas to tacos to tenders and more. My favorite plate: “It’s Me, I’m The Hummus, It’s Me.” Plus if you have a sweet tooth, there is dessert – cookies, milkshakes, cheesecake and sweet cake with vanilla frosting.
There’s also a “blank space” waiting for you to write your ex-partner’s name on the wall! Sweet revenge. Plus, a friendship bracelet making workshop every Sunday to bring you back to a joyful state.
Yes, kids are allowed, but if they’re under 18, they must be accompanied by an adult, and be out by 8pm. Fair enough, it is a bar. And we can definitely make this a party for all of us, regardless of age.
Del Ray’s Popup bar is a place that will lift your spirits and boost your Insta cred. Stop by, it’s open 5pm-10pm, Tuesday through Thursday; 5pm-12am on Friday; 2pm-12am on Saturday; 2pm-10pm on Sunday and closed on Mondays (these people need some rest and to restock!). No reservations, walk-ins only. I do suggest the weekdays for us locals, as Swifties are trekking on hours-long drives for the experience.
