Frank & Eileen Virtual Trunk Show

Let’s face it, it is a Zoom world and we all just live in it. Even if you don’t use it for work, we are all using it to catch up with friends and any other socialization or meeting. I can’t get my camera to work, thank the Lord, so nobody realizes my hair is a mess most of the time.It has created a lot of conversation about how to get dressed, no pants required, or at least they can be sweat pants if you don’t want to deal with a zipper.Well, this week we have the perfect trunk show for dressing from the waist up, Frank & Eileen. Besides having an expanded selection of what we normally offer, it is all 20 percent off. If you are worried about fit, we have some in stock of various styles so we can have you try those before we order exactly what you want.

One day Alicia and I were chatting, and she said that for her clients, a button down by Frank & Eileen or The Shirt by Rochelle Beherns (carried at Periwinkle right here in Old Town) seemed to be the emerging uniform these days. So, if you haven’t tried one, this is your perfect chance. But it isn’t just for Zoom; a great button down makes getting dressed easy, even if you aren’t going to hop online. Some people wonder why we are even bothering getting dressed, but as many articles have been written, it really alters your mental state.A former Stylebook editor and my friend who now spends more time on Zoom than anyone I know sent me an article from Vogue.com by Liana Satenstein about how this new way of work is at least helping us get into the right work mode. Here’s what it said:

So, I called up Professor Francis T. McAndrew, who teaches at Knox College in Illinois and specializes in environmental psychology—and yes, isolation—to see if there was a connection between getting dressed for the day and your general mental state. “If you look at how you are dressed, that signals something about what you are prepared to do. If you are dressed professionally and you’re dressed up, in some ways that raises your own opinion of yourself, and you want your behavior and demeanor to match the clothes,” he said. “So, if you’re dressed like a slob and you are in your sweat  clothes, you’re either prepared to work out at the gym or clean out the basement, but you’re not doing anything professional or mentally challenging, and that spills over into your motivation and confidence.” According to McAndrew, I was a slob! I was a good-for-nothin’ loser slob just sinking further and further into my bed, into a black hole of overworn long-sleeve T-shirts.
