Galactic Panther Art Show
There’s a new art gallery in town, and its grand opening is this Friday, August 6! Hosted at 1303 King Street, Galactic Panther Gallery is a collaborative space featuring internationally exhibiting artists, focusing on contemporary designs from established artists such as Picasso, alongside unrepresented artists all under the same roof.
Galactic Panther Gallery was created and collected by ESP Tea & Coffee shop’s owner Erik Muendel and artist Eli Pollard. Much of Eli’s collection can be viewed on the walls of ESP Tea & Coffee at 1012 King Street, here in Old Town.
The first exhibit, opening Friday, August 6 from 6-10pm, is entitled “ESP - Extrasensory Perception.” Eli believes “ESP” reflects the spirit of Galactic Panther, which focuses on contemporary art that is “not limited by a genre, media, borders, or states of mind.”
The opening evening will include live music, food, and free entry into the Galactic Activation Portal. Since its beginning, Galactic Panther has set aside portions of each sale to go towards charities that feed people in need of assistance. “This is one of the things I feel most excited about, and my hope is that while serving up the most incredible artwork & live music to the people of Old Town Alexandria, D.C., and beyond, we are also expanding our ability to serve the population who needs it the most,” shared Eli.
“I can’t wait for Old Town to experience Galactic Panther and this exhibit. It’s the perfect addition to an already thriving arts community,” said Erik Muendel, who has already created a stage for artists to showcase their artwork at his shop, ESP Tea & Coffee.
