Halloween Pet Activities

Pet Halloween activities in Alexandria go far beyond the typical black cats. We love fall in Alexandria and also love that it is one of the most dog-friendly cities in the country. When the two combine, they conjure up pure joy. There are so many festive pet events in the next few weeks. Here’s a list of our pawsitively favorite happenings. 

Me and my Puggle, Paisley

 

Canine Cruise: October 25, 6:30pm and 8pm 

Come out with your costumed canine and cruise along the Potomac River to some Halloween tunes. Halloween treats will be provided on board. Be sure to have your four-legged friend in their best costume. These cruises launch off the Waterfront Park docks. Admission: $24.99 for adults; $15.75 ages 2-11; infants and dogs ride free!  

Howl-O-Ween 2019 with AWLA: October 26, 2- 4pm 

Give your favorite costume canine(s) a chance to strut their stuff and win amazing prizes at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria's Howl-O-Ween event, held at Riverside Taco Company at the Old Town Waterfront behind the Torpedo Factory. This event is fun for the whole family, and proceeds benefit animals in need across the community.

Happy Howl-o-ween Party with Sporting Dog International Rescue: October 27, 11am - 2pm

Another amazing pawty! This Happy Howl-o-ween Party will benefit Sporting Dog International Rescue. This is a great way to kick-off many other great dog friendly Halloween activities, happening the same day in Alexandria. Festivities are being held in LandDesign's back parking lot, right off Prince and Peyton Street.  

Dog Trick or Treat: October 27, 1pm

Trick or treat with your four-legged friends! There will be treats, sales and a costume contest during this event. Start at The Dog Park in Old Town Alexandria to get your map and a goodie bag, then tour the rest of the participating stores (35 of them!) to get more treats. This event is rain or shine!  

23rd Annual Del Ray Halloween Parade: October 27, 2- 4pm

Parade with your pets! Del Ray’s annual Halloween Parade begins at Mt. Vernon Ave., south of E. Bellefonte, and continues down to the Mt. Vernon Recreation Center play fields at Mt. Vernon and Commonwealth Avenues. Children, pets and strollers in costumes are invited to march and show off their finest and scariest Halloween garb. Following the parade, awards are given for Best Pet Costume, Best Decorated Business, Best Decorated Home and Best Decorated Stroller during a brief ceremony. There is no fee to compete for Best Pet Costume or Best Decorated contests.
