How to Create a Pinterest-worthy Thanksgiving Table – With the Click of a Mouse

One of the things I love most about Alexandria is that we’re a town steeped in tradition. Let’s face it: our community can throw down when it comes to holiday decorating. We love a well decorated seasonal porch, and we LOVE a good holiday tablescape. Deep down, we all are a little bit Martha and a little bit Ina Garten.

I am definitely one of these women. I love all things holiday. I think a lot of this has to do with my occupation obviously, but it also has to do with nostalgia. It’s the time of year that I break out my great grandmother’s china and pull out badly faded recipes handwritten by my grandmother.

The part of the holiday that we don’t often talk about, though, is the wild amount of pressure so many of us feel to do everything perfectly while simultaneously mom-ing and holding down very real jobs. If you’re anything like me, by the time the holidays roll around, you’re hanging on by a thread.

Last year, I had a holiday revelation of sorts. A longtime client of mine responded to an Instagram story I had put up of a beautiful Thanksgiving table – it was styled to the nines: candles, little stems of greenery tucked into the napkin folds, candles, tiny pumpkins nestled around the flowers, etc.

Her response was gold: “Pretty, but who the hell has time to make this?”

I, of course, laughed and exchanged a few funny DMs with her about how we’re ALL in the same boat. From this conversation, an idea was born: what if we offered all the “stuff”.

This year, it’s not just flowers for sale from Helen Olivia. If you haven’t yet, check out our beautiful new website (shameless plug). It’s been a project in the works for almost a year, and also happens to be where you can order a plethora of fun seasonal things for a holiday table.  Baby pumpkins and gourds? Check!  Bud vases and flowers? Check! Votive and taper candles?  Check! Flower-filled cornucopias and centerpieces? Check, Check!

We’re also loading up on the prettiest fall orchids for Thanksgiving week if you’re on the hunt for a hostess gift.

Happy hosting, my friends (and try to stay sane– we got this)!
