Help A High Schooler & Sweat For A Cause!

My vocation is to help women find their "true north" of holistic wellness. We open their eyes to strategies like calendar management, stress resilience, sleep, and to approach aging as a strength and NOT something that gets in the way of our wellness. When each of these is practiced consistently and as "foundational" to their lives, a new world of wellness "opens up." As the mother of two teenagers, I also am keenly committed to fostering a growth mindset, confidence-building practices, and physical and emotional strength for our future leaders. I'd like to introduce you to one of those future leaders who is on the path to developing lifelong leadership - and wellness - skills.

When Avery Chadwick, daughter of my dear friend Kirsten, approached me about helping her raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student of the Year campaign, I needed no convincing. I was already aware of the program through some of my other community work and am impressed with the leadership tools LLS creates for students. They learn about entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management to raise funds for LLS. Through my work with Avery, I am already blown away by her dedication and enthusiasm for this cause and the mentoring she is receiving from the amazing staff at LLS.

While, yes, Alexandria Wellness can certainly donate to LLS, why not instead raise awareness within the Alexandria Stylebook community and bring us all together to help encourage a future leader, support a good cause, and SWEAT at the same time? Could it get any better?

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you Avery and her story about LLS.

From Avery Chadwick: This year I am working with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a Team Member on Team Raise Hope Together in the Students of the Year Campaign to help bring an end to blood cancers. LLS is the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to blood cancer patients, and funds some of the most groundbreaking research projects that help other cancers and diseases.

I want my generation to be the generation that ends cancer because the unfortunate reality is that everyone is touched by cancer in some way. It is guaranteed that your colleagues, friends, neighbors, and family have all been affected or know someone affected. For me, I have grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends who have all been diagnosed. My mom’s very close friend Matt passed away recently from cancer which was heartbreaking to see her go through. The brutality of cancer is unforgiving.

Witnessing and knowing personally the grief it causes people has helped motivate me to join LLS and do my part in helping end cancer. I want to honor those who have passed away due to cancer and fundraise in their name. Making a difference in my community and advocating for those who cannot is one of the most fulfilling and important things I can do to give back. I’m sure we all have people close to our hearts that had to endure the physical and emotional toll of this disease. But there is still hope! LLS has helped advance more than 85% of all blood cancer treatments that have been used to research and treat other types of cancers. I am so proud to be a part of LLS and do what I can to get rid of cancer. You can too!

Mrs. Cotton has generously partnered with me in creating this 45-minute workout class where 100% of the funds go to my campaign. With your participation, you would help me reach a goal of $7,500, and put money towards a personal cause. Your support means everything to me and those you care about who are affected.

I hope you join us for Sweat for a Cause!
