Your Summer Lookbook

With Memorial Day in the rear-view mirror and graduation parties starting, we all know that means it is time for summer. This means it is time for some casual dressing with easy dresses and shorts with a tee or a button-down shirt. The clothes go along with what we hope is a slower pace and relaxed time of year.

Right now, we are receiving our summer deliveries and believe it or not what some brands label as pre-fall. We try to stick to the summer items, especially since it is warm until October in Alexandria and the Washington, DC area. This also means we try to pick pieces that work for both seasons (with the exception of the Xirena delivery, which is true summer and has great colors and great sundresses to wear at the beach and on hot days.)

The Apiece Apart delivery is full of effortless options. The Vanilla Cinched Waist Dress is on my list to take to Paris in June and if I hit the treadmill a little more before then, I might go for the shorter version, the Nina. Their shorts are also a personal favorite of mine.

Ulla Johnson and Ann Masbburn have great cotton poplin options that take you through the next four months. The tops from Hunter Belle and Frank and Eileen will work almost all year. Then, of course, we have Tibi’s great tees, sweaters, and sweatshirts for layering. This season also marks the return of the cotton trousers. I can’t wait for the chino from Tibi and the utility trousers from Citizens of Humanity. Veronica Beard has great “dressy” tees and tanks and the cutest jean jacket around.

If you flip through the Lookbook you will notice a new brand that is arriving, Faithful the Brand. Perfect for weddings, showers, or a night out and a great price. We are so excited for our first shipment in July. So, stop in and shop the sale; it is still going strong and all summer we will be unpacking new arrivals. Don’t worry, we will still make sure we have our Wednesday reveals and get it all online so you can shop from wherever you might be this summer.
