How To Style Joggers

The Pilates Boot Camp crew at Mind the Mat in Del Ray is a loyal bunch. I am part of the Monday and Thursday at 9:30am crowd. We even have unofficial spots and nicknames; if you don't "know" someone, you have a connection with them and probably know more about them than you realize. After way too many months of virtual pilates, I'm so happy to be back in person and reconnect with these folks.

When we all started to come back in person, I noticed Courtney Rivkin (I recognized her from the "before times.”) Truth be told, she had on the cutest workout outfits. Yes, there are such things as workout outfits. I consume lots of Lululemon and workout clothes from my store, but I never seem to pull it together for class. I am always taking whatever is clean on top of the laundry basket. Courtney, however, always looks so put together, putting forth effort even to be tortured and yelled at by Megan Brown. Here is the other thing: she has a glow about her. She used the quarantine to take care of herself, even with two young kids running around. Courtney is a realtor with her mom at the Rivkin Group, and despite it being one of the busiest times for her industry, she has made her health and wellness a priority, and it shows. I see her at class or running down Russell Road, and I am inspired. If a working mom of two young kids can get a workout in, then I sure as heck should be able to figure it out!

After class one day, I asked her if she would be willing to model for the stores for a Stylebook shoot. I wanted everyone to see her glow. I thought, what better thing to showcase on Courtney than all our new dressy joggers. I was listening to a podcast the other day, and they were talking about the future of fashion and getting dressed. The founder of Decades, Cameron Silver, was saying how he thinks now that people know what it feels like to finally be comfortable when they are dressed, that more casual attire is here to stay. It will just all be more luxurious. Better fabrics, better cuts, and things that might not be thought of together (joggers and blazers) will now become a staple.

I could not agree more, and I could not be more excited to show how you can take an item that was once considered only for the gym to be worn in an elevated way. Since Courtney knows how to make her workout clothes look great, then surely, she could show us all how to style some joggers in fabrics from leather to chalky drape. So, with the help of Madeline, she put together some show-stopping looks.
