We’re Celebrating Inktober at Penny Post!

What exactly is Inktober, you ask? Well, it all started as a seed of an idea by picture book artist and comic book illustrator, Jake Parker, in 2009. Since then it has grown into a movement. Every October illustrators and artists everywhere challenge themselves by creating an new ink drawing every day and posting it online with the hashtag #inktober so it can be seen and shared globally. According to the official Inktober website, it’s a fun way to improve skills and develop positive drawing habits. What a beautiful way to celebrate art and October!Inktober rules are simple: Make a drawing in ink and post it using the hashtag. You can use any kind of ink, mixed media, calligraphy, markers, or watercolors. The sky is the limit, really. Deciding what to draw can be the hardest part of creating so there are official prompts to make things easy. Using the prompts aren’t part of the rules. They are just there to get you started.  To further challenge our fabulously creative customers, Penny Post is having a contest. If you are participating in Inktober, post your creation on Instagram, tag @shoppennypost, and use the hashtag #shoppennypostinktober as well as the official #inktober or #inktober2019. Each week, we will compile all the entries and the staff will pick their favorite one. The winners will get a $50 gift card!! It’s our way of having a little extra inky fun this October.  If you need supplies, you can be sure Penny Post has them. From sketch pads to pens and everything in between, Penny Post has your Inktober supplies. Below is just a sampling of the expertly curated selection of instruments you need to get started!
