Jump Onboard The Visible Mending Trend!

If you are on Instagram, you’ve probably seen #visiblemending pop up in your feed. It has been a craze for the last couple of years. The environmentally conscious have always found ways to repurpose or repair worn and damaged garments, but lately, darning your old clothes has become a fashion trend as well, with crafters using high contrast thread and fabric to make the mend obvious and bold. The formerly broken portion of the garment becomes a new design feature, with some taking it to new and incredible levels.

So instead of tossing out that gorgeous sweater that got a moth hole in it or throwing away the jeans with a bleach stain, we love getting creative with visible mending. We have two sizes of this incredibly handy tool to get you started:

With these kits, you can do visible mending to your garments and fix holes in our socks or sweaters. Just follow the enclosed simple instructions, and you’ll be mending clothing and accessories in no time! Grab some wool and nylon darning thread or this Sashiko thread from Japan - both available in our shop. Mending is a beautiful way to extend the life of your clothes while practicing the calming art of embroidery. And don’t worry - even the most basic stitching skills can dramatically improve that old piece of clothing! The magic of visible mending is that it is much more accessible to newer sewers. There is no expectation that the repaired part will match up with the rest of the garment or that stitches will be uniform!
