KTI Behind the Scenes: Beautiful Days Leading to Inspired Homes

This spring has been brimming with beautiful events, travel, and progress on both new and ongoing projects, prompting us to share a glimpse behind the scenes. What makes each day special for us is the diversity of activities, from collaborating with vendors to meeting clients, contractors, architects, and other skilled creatives.

High Point Market, North Carolina

Earlier this month, I embarked on a unique journey at High Point Market. Instead of sticking to our usual vendors, I joined a VIP day tour with our exceptional business coach to explore fresh avenues and connect with talented designers from across the U.S. and Canada. It was a delightful experience discovering new vendors while also revisiting some old favorites with whom we've enjoyed long standing relationships.

One of the highlights for me is delving into the craftsmanship behind the furniture we incorporate into our homes. Handcrafted furniture epitomizes artistry, and meeting the artisans behind these pieces reinforces our commitment to integrating their work into our designs. Additionally, we scouted a new upholstery line, boasting comfortable and stylish pieces made right in North Carolina, which we're eager to feature in our upcoming projects.

Brooke’s Bank Farm

Last week, I had the privilege of attending a splendid luncheon at the historic Brooke’s Bank Farm in Champlain, Virginia. This picturesque estate, completed in 1751, graces the banks of the Rappahannock River. Our gracious hosts were the lovely textile representatives from The Lot Showroom and The Design Social.

During this enchanting gathering, our host, Mary Spotswood Underwood, regaled us with tales of the property's rich history and restoration efforts, all while treating us to a delectable lunch. It was a delightful occasion to reconnect with designer friends from both the DC and Richmond areas. And let me share a little secret…Mary’s family's furniture polish, Curator’s Choice, is a must-have for breathing new life into your cherished wood pieces.

Moreover, we had the opportunity to preview several new textile and wallpaper lines from our vendors, igniting our excitement to integrate them into our evolving roster of projects.

Lighting Seminar

This week, we were fortunate to attend an illuminating architectural lighting seminar hosted by Visual Comfort at their newly minted Washington, D.C. Showroom on 14th Street. We're eager to leverage the cutting-edge technology and design insights shared to enhance our future projects. The emphasis on merging design with technology to elevate our projects and, by extension, your homes, was truly invigorating.

Great lighting is indispensable for showcasing the intricacies of a well-crafted design or renovation project. It's one of my personal passions, and I always advocate for making informed choices that not only enhance aesthetics but also create the perfect ambiance for a space. With Visual Comfort, we're empowered to achieve just that, thanks to their array of exquisite, high-quality lighting options spanning various price points. I can't wait to introduce our clients to the new showroom and witness the magic of the lighting lab firsthand—no more unsightly recessed can lights!

KTI Studio

As we delve into several new projects this spring, we find ourselves immersed in the design conceptualization phase. Our days are filled with measurements, drawings, client meetings, vendor collaborations, site visits, and project management tasks. Witnessing our designs take shape in the real world is always a gratifying experience. Follow Kristin Try Interiors on Instagram for an inside look at these projects as they unfold.

I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to spend my days surrounded by such talented and dedicated individuals—vendors, artisans, and clients alike. Together, we're crafting spaces that inspire and uplift, and I couldn't be more excited about the journey ahead.
