Outfit to Room: Fall Floral Edition

We are nearing the end of our Semi-Annual Upholstery Sale and entering my favorite season, fall, so I thought what better time than now to do an outfit to room post. Last week, I reached out to Elizabeth to send me something fabulous. I’m not sure if she purposefully sent this gorgeous ensemble because she knows my love of blue, but I like to think she did. This stunning Veronica Beard dress makes for a dramatic and decidedly feminine room, and I was excited to take on the challenge.

If you’ve followed along with similar posts, then you know I love a dark wall. Sure, I could have translated the blue floral into fabric, but I wanted to cover the walls of my pretend living room with this fantastic Brunshwig & Fils wallpaper. Using it as my backdrop meant lighting up the rest of the room. In my head, this living room has two sofas facing each other with a fireplace anchoring the space and serving as the focal point. It’s a simple floor plan that requires few but very special elements.

The wallpaper is definitely special and a great start. The next statement element is the two sofas. Two weeks ago, I showed you the double chair version of the Luccia sofa in Mila and Ashton’s California home. This sofa is hands down one of my favorites from Cisco Home. We have had it in the store many times over the last fourteen years. It’s classic and never gets old. I wanted to keep this room sophisticated, so I upholstered the sofas in an ivory velvet. To pull in the black and to offer a juxtaposition to the traditional shape of the sofas, I added the metal coffee table from Cisco Home. It has an antiqued mirror top, which is a glamorous touch to the iron.

The rug with its variations of blue, ivory, and gray is from Dash & Albert. The colors in the room are all picked up in it nicely. To match the earrings and shoes, I added brass leafy accents in the lamps, which, in my imaginary living room, would be placed closest to the fireplace next to each sofa and in the mirror that would hang above the fireplace. Finally, I wanted to add blue on the sofa to refer back to the wallpaper. The base pillows would be a bold stripe Ralph Lauren fabric. Stripes offer a balance to all the floral. The lighter blue floral would become pillows next to the striped ones. I thought using the inverse of the wallpaper would be a nice touch. Plus, that fabric is just so pretty!

All in all, I love this room. I’m generally a stripe or plaid person, but I had fun playing with these florals. If you’re in need of help with your room or just need a few pieces to finish your space, then our team is at the ready to help! Simply fill out this form, and one of us will reach out to you. Our upholstery sale ends on September 30th, so don’t delay!
