Register To Vote at Penny Post This Weekend

I love to vote. I remember every candidate I ever voted for and I only regret one of those decisions. It’s a privilege to get to do it and one that I don’t take lightly. Now, I won’t get on my soapbox and tell you how important it is because I believe you already know. Washington is a company town and many of us are affected by the ebb and flow of the political tides. Instead, I want to let you know that if you need to register, we will have representatives from The League of Women Voters at Penny Post, 1201 King Street, from 1 - 4pm this Sunday, September 29.  In a former life I got the chance to work with this wonderful organization. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation of citizens in government. They work to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and they influence public policy through education and advocacy. It was important to us to have a reputable nonpartisan organization on hand to help our customers register. While my personal beliefs may not be the same as yours, I truly believe that everyone should exercise their right to vote. It’s the truest and most effective way to let your voice be heard.  Virginia’s next big election is November 5 when we get to vote for Virginia State Senate, House of Delegates, and Clerk of Court. You must be registered to vote by October 15, so we hope to see you on Sunday, September 29, 1 - 4pm at Penny Post. And remember, stay informed, hold your elected officials accountable, and vote!
