Restaurant Report: Oak Steakhouse

A steakhouse for all!We often associate upscale steakhouses with stuffy atmospheres, men in suits and a choice of steak, steak, or steak. I do enjoy a good steak, but I am by no means a huge red-meat eater. So when I heard Eden’s was putting high-end Charleston, South Carolina based, ‘Oak Steakhouse’ in their new project ‘530 First Street,’ I hoped it would be a place I would only eat at more than once or twice a year…and let me tell you, it is!

Chef Joseph Conrad, formally at Bourbon Steak and the Lafayette inside the Hay-Adams hotel, has done an amazing job curating this menu to include a wide variety of food and price points. Of course, you have top-notch steaks – Cowboy Ribeye, Wagyu Hanger, and Prime Kansas City New York Strip, just to name a few. But their non-steak options were truly remarkable as well … so much so that my dad didn’t even get a steak!! He opted for the crispy skin black bass, served with cauliflower puree, marcona almonds, chermoula, and broccoli rabe and it was fantastic! There is truly something for everyone, salads for the healthy eater, seared sea scallops for the pescatarians, burrata and charcuterie board for the Italian lover, the list goes on. What is remarkable is that it is all good!

July 12th marked the opening of the sixth Oak Steakhouse for Indigo Road Hospitality, the other locations are in Atlanta, GA, Charleston, SC, Raleigh and Charlotte, NC and Nashville TN. The 5,000 SF restaurant holds 110 seats, has a 36-seat outdoor patio, 17-seat bar, and a private dining room. The restaurants aesthetic is very swanky -- burgundy tufted chairs and a lot of hardwood accents, but floor to ceiling windows give a playful balance.

I see Oak Steakhouse becoming the place one meets a friend for a drink, but also the go-to for fancy corporate dinners in Alexandria. It is a steakhouse for more than just a special occasion, you won’t need an excuse to eat a fantastic meal here, it will become your go-to for great food. The menu has a variety of prices, you can grab the Oak Prime Bacon Burger for $18 or opt for the 60-day aged 36 oz Porterhouse (serves two!). Indulge in steak truffle white cheddar mac or go light with a beet salad and roasted cauliflower. But always be sure to enjoy the housemade Parkerhouse Rolls made with cornmeal from Anson Mills, SC topped with the kitchens own cultured butter with rosemary-lavender lemon sea salt.

Oak Steakhouse is a steakhouse for everyone! We are so excited to welcome such an established restaurant to Alexandria; we are very excited for many more meals here!https://oakalexandria.com/Location:901 N St Asaph StContact:703-840-3395oakalexandria@theindigoroad.com
