Smythe: The Blazer
Oh, how I love Smythe. It had been one of the few lines from which I personally owned multiple pieces (okay, an absolute ton of pieces) but didn’t carry in the store. Well, now we have it at The Hive, and every time a box arrives, I do a little happy dance. Okay, truthfully, it’s a big happy dance.
Co-founded by Andrea Lenczner and Christie Smythe in 2004, the brand built its reputation on the women’s tailored blazer. It expanded to jackets, coats, dresses, blouses, and pants over the years but clearly, during the pandemic, they had to pivot a bit as women didn’t need the clothing they were used to creating. But here we are two years later, and the blazer is back in a big, big way. It is always a small and edited collection, but that means everything in there is always great. The pieces often style back to each other, and the tailoring is always impeccable. I was so excited when I saw this collection last fall. The fun patterns, the bright colors, and the casual but sophisticated cuts were everything I was looking for in blazers. I already snatched up the oversized navy with the Wear Cisco lining; it is hard to go wrong with a good collaboration. But the leopard and the plaid really have me thinking I need to snatch up a couple more.
