The Macallan Experience with Alx&Co.

Have you heard the buzz about Old Town Cocktail Week? This is the first year it’s happening and I was thrilled to receive an invitation to participate from organizers Amy Rutherford and Victoria Verguson. With more than twenty restaurants and boutiques participating, we jumped at the chance to come up with a creative event and boy do we have a treat in store for you…We reached out to a good friend of ours, James D’Arcy, who also happens to be a brand representative for The Macallan Whiskey. (Note: while he is English, he is not this James D’Arcy.) James is profoundly knowledgeable about whiskey (among other offerings, he has a decade of experience managing and serving at some of the most recognizable names in the fine hospitality industry) and particularly enjoys coming up with creative ways to show off the intricate flavor profiles of this beautiful beverage. Tim and I have been lucky participants in a number of James’ informal demonstrations at parties and always leave with an expanded appreciation for new ways to enjoy whiskey. So, when we were brainstorming ways to offer an innovative experience for our clients in honor of Old Town Cocktail Week, we knew James would be the perfect person to work with for our event. On Friday, May 10th, we’re offering two separate sit-down tastings of The Macallan’s finest experiences with James walking our clients through the brand’s history and unique process that sets this beverage apart. This will truly be an elevated experience to remember. James will be bringing a library of his favorite resources and is chock-full of information about how to develop your whiskey palate. Better still: cheese! We wanted to offer something novel for our clients, so James will be demonstrating how to pair whiskey with various fine cheeses provided by Brut Champagne Bar. Wine and cheese are so expected (though wonderful), but whiskey and cheese is new-level hosting and we’ll show you how to do it confidently. Also, who doesn’t love cheese?!This will be an intimate sit-down event limited to ten clients per session, and tickets must be purchased in advance. We recommend making an evening of it and enjoying dinner in Old Town afterwards. Seriously: a spring evening enjoying fine whiskey with lovely people in our fair city… does it get any better than this?If you’re interested in purchasing tickets or have other questions about the event, email me for more information. We can’t wait to share this evening with you.
