When Tibi founder Amy Smilovic said, "I love seeing someone's personality come to life through their wardrobe choices," I felt like she was speaking my very own thoughts. As someone who can't remember what happened yesterday but can recall exactly what someone wore to a specific event eight years ago, this made me think about how much we (both the fashionably inclined and not-so) say about ourselves with our clothes - even when we don't try. So much of putting together a great outfit isn't necessarily about knowing fashion, but about understanding ourselves and what makes us feel good. After all, don't we each want to feel like ourselves when we walk that outfit past a mirror? Maybe "ourselves" and wearing "cool pants" is the sweet spot.

I think personal style is constantly evolving; however, it does have its fundamentals. I like to refer to these clothing items as the "heavy lifters" in my closet. These are the pieces I invest in and wear frequently, usually across several seasons. I'll also wear them several ways: dressed up, dressed down, sliding in sideways, you get the gist.

This Friday, we are launching a Fundamentals trunk show with the help of our Account Executive, Christine. She will be on hand on January 21 to help show everyone why the Fundamentals work so well in anyone's wardrobe. In addition, she brought some special Fundamentals pieces that she is letting us keep for the week. We are also excited to be offering individual shopping appointments with Christine.

One of the pieces I'm most excited about is the Tropical Wool Jogger. We all know and love Tibi's famed joggers. They go with everything. Boots. Heels. Very exciting, sparkly shoes. Your favorite chambray top. That new silk blouse. These joggers are, you guessed it, a heavy lifter. They're certain to carry you through spring, summer, fall, and maybe even an Alexandria winter if you have a long coat, warm socks, and believe in yourself.

Another thing that is both wonderful and unsurprising: Tibi makes a great blazer. Simple enough to go with a variety of things, interesting enough to garner compliments, the Marlon Blazer will be a new staple that elevates any outfit.
