Trend Watch: Spring Pastels

While I consider each piece we carry at Alx&Co. to be timeless, I certainly still see ebbs and flows of trends as we move through each year. I especially love sourcing jewelry for springtime for the simplest of reasons: the colors just make me happy, especially when it’s still gray and cold outside. Soft floral shades and pastels have been having a big moment this season, and I find that alternative gemstones like fine turquoise and quartz are a great medium for these types of tones. I recently added a number of beautiful soft, pastel hues to our showroom collection and the light touch of color has me yearning for spring even more. Take a look, if you’re interested…

I can just see these fine Persian turquoise hoops paired with an open shoulder top and jeans -- perfect for afternoon happy hours outside in the sun. The “Bean” drops have the most beautiful hand-hammered luster for a more subtle look, and I can’t get over how lovely this robin’s egg blue shade of turquoise is. Hand crafted in fine silver and gilded in 22k gold, these earrings have a friendly price point but feature high-quality materials that will last.

Rose quartz, how I love thee. This briolette-cut earring/pendant pairing features the most perfect shade of blush -- or maybe “cherry blossom” -- pink and it’s set with 14k yellow gold. I hung the pendant with a gold beaded chain for a high-end casual effect, but you can choose any chain you prefer. Wear them with a loose button-up white shirt and skinny white denim and head out that breezy door. All components sold separately.

I love these crystal quartz drops for their flirty style and neutral tone. Set in 14k yellow gold, the gems bring sparkle and style to an otherwise minimalist design. I can see these worn with a lovely floral pattern dress for a sparkle that doesn’t compete, or I can see them paired with a black tank dress for a chic uptown look.

We handmade these convertible hoops and I am so proud of the design. I set them with green amethyst for a lovely spring-mint effect and they create such a beautiful, interesting shape. I love that you can dress these up or down, and they can go super basic by removing the circle “jacket” to leave just the small hoops. If you’re interested in other gemstones or gold tones, just ask!

This pendant necklace features rutilated quartz set in 14k yellow gold and it’s accented by a tiny diamond for extra sparkle. Rutilated quartz gets its distinctive gold “threads” from inclusions of rutile, a mineral made of titanium oxide. It creates these beautiful, abstract golden accents that are even more amazing in person. I love that this pendant is otherwise quite neutral, so you could pair it just as easily with a white button down as you could with a bright, floral popover. Pendant and chain are sold separately, so mix and match to suit your own style.
