Turtles’ Favorite Old Town Hangout

Old Town is known for many things, but wildlife isn’t one of them. Beautiful brick townhouses, yes. Great shopping and dining, yes. History, yes. Wildlife, not so much. It’s no small wonder, then, that six to nine turtles live in the backyard of our listing at 817 S Royal Street. It’s such a good story, we had to share. These turtles have called this particular backyard “home” for more than 40 years now. They stay out of sight some of the time, but other times you’ll catch them laying out in the sun, working on their tans. If you feed them, they’ll come say hello; in fact, the sellers have made feeding the turtles a part of their daily routine. Right now, you might even be able to spot a baby turtle, though he’s wise beyond his years and stays hidden most of the time.Out of all the houses in Old Town, why did the turtles choose this backyard? Not quite sure, but with an immaculate, serene patio that feels like a private oasis, as well as a built-in bar and grill perfect for outdoor entertaining, we’d choose it, too! This house features four bedrooms, three and a half baths, and three finished levels. A two-story expansion of the kitchen, family room, and master bedroom completed in 2015 doubled the above-grade square footage, which now totals almost 2,000 square feet. The design is exquisite, with high ceilings, white oak floors, built-in bookshelves, gorgeous paint in neutral tones, and the master bathroom of our dreams. Offered at an incredible value of $1,049,000, 817 S Royal Street is a must-see. And here’s your chance: it will be open this Sunday, October 7, between 2-4pm! If that time doesn’t work, please feel free to email me at bpatterson@ttrsir.com to set up a showing.[nemus_slider id="53221"]
