Upholstery Sale Design Inspiration, Part 1: Kristin Try Fine Art & Interiors

This Friday, February 1 starts our semi-annual Upholstery Sale and to mark the occasion we thought it would be fun to give our Design Collective designers one upholstered piece and two other accent pieces to see how they would create a room using those items as well as other products found at Red Barn Mercantile. They were given one of our favorite Cisco Brothers’ frames, the Louis, a gorgeous lamp by Aerin Lauder that comes in four different finishes, and a sophisticated side table from Noir Furniture that comes in white or black. What they came up with is nothing short of incredible. Showcasing each designer’s signature style, this was a really fun exercise for all of us. I think you will be inspired. First up is Kristin Try of Kristin Try Fine Art & Interiors, formerly known as Gingham & Grosgrain. Here is what she has to say about her design…

“My design board of a Study/Library is for a confident, powerful lady who isn’t afraid of color or pattern, or mixing traditional with modern pieces. I love adding a few custom pieces in all my projects, especially window treatments and touches like the upholstered seat cushion on the desk chair.

I also love to add color to walls. In the right spaces, painting the walls and trim the same color makes a big statement. I love a good white space as much as anyone, but an intimate space like a study should really reflect the client’s personality and be a space they feel moved by.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m head over heels for this color combination. The custom curtains with Tulu fabric and French pleats are definitely a statement. That desk is bold without being overpowering. And, mixing it with a more delicate traditional chair is a nice juxtaposition. Everything in Kristin’s room is available at Red Barn Mercantile – everything, that is, except Kristin’s beautiful art, which is available through her website.Every day, Cisco Brothers upholstery is marked down 20 percent, but during the month of February and half of March, we take an additional 10 percent off all custom upholstery. So, if you’re ready for a refresh – be it your study, bedroom, kitchen, or entire house, Kristin and our other equally talented Design Collective partners are ready to help you design the space that moves you. Email us at hello@redbarnmercantile.com and we will connect you with the designer who best matches your style.
