Alexandria's Best Pizza

It’s safe to say that we’re big fans of any type of celebration. So, when we found out that last week was National Pizza Week, we knew we had to celebrate accordingly by getting a slice or two. We also thought it was incredibly fitting that Alexandria Restaurant Week was right around the corner (and we hope y'all are currently enjoying all of the dining steals and deals). We asked our friends on Instagram for their favorite Alexandria pizza joints and we were blown away by all of your responses. People are definitely passionate about pizza (and so are we). Here are your top local pizza places:

Faccia Luna

So many of you voted for this amazing trattoria. Faccia Luna opened its first restaurant in Washington, D.C. in 1989. The Alexandria location was soon to follow. Each of their restaurants have an atmosphere inspired by the walk-in clientele who frequent their casual Italian restaurants. They have incredible daily specials every week (including Monday night dinner for two for $35). We also have to give their Bianco pie a big shoutout because so many of you specifically said this was your favorite pizza.

Bugsy’s

There isn’t a better combo than sports and pizza. This is definitely an Alexandria staple. Grab a slice and watch your favorite team in the upstairs sports bar, or bring the little ones to the downstairs family-friendly restaurant. Bugsy’s has even been compared to the famous TV bar in Cheers, where everybody knows your name. Make sure to try one of their famous specialty pizzas like La Spezia Pizza: Alfredo pesto sauce, marinated chicken, bacon, feta, fresh spinach, grilled onions, red peppers, and basil.

Del Ray Pizza

This restaurant has been a favorite for Alexandria families forever. It’s a warm atmosphere to enjoy a slice after a soccer game, or comfort food on a Friday night. They have a nearly endless pizza selection and expansive beer menu to match. In the warm months, their patio is also pet-friendly, so make sure to bring your pup! You all told us to try the “Supreme Cilentele,” with red sauce, shredded mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, red onion, black olives, and mushrooms.

RedRocks

This award-winning Neapolitan pizza place is a popular King Street stop. Their food is inspired by the pizza from the best pizzerias of Naples. The menu features Neapolitan inspired, thin crust pizzas cooked in a classic wood oven that is fired at 900 degrees. Pizza also doesn’t just have to be for dinner. Make sure to try their “Hangover Pizza,” a pie made of ground sausage, fingerling potatoes, a cracked egg in the center, and parmesan cheese.
