All About the Henley

Did anyone else live in Henley shirts in the early 1990s? I sure did. I remember one outfit that was my “go-to” in college. This was my casual-going-out outfit, which meant it was not a black scoop neck bodysuit with what we called shooties, which was my dressy outfit. My casual look was high rise jeans (same as the dressy outfit), braided belt (same as the dressy outfit), an oversized cream and mint green plaid flannel shirt coat similar to the popular style right now, hiking boots, and a mint green Henley. I thought I had just walked out of a J. Crew catalog, and I was hot stuff.Ever since then, I have always loved Henley shirts. I am not even remotely outdoorsy, but I do like their casual and sporty vibe. I am watching the soapy Netflix series Virgin River right now and there are lots of Henleys in the costume closet. This winter, Henleys are back in a big way. Some are the more standard cut (think L.L. Bean), some are a little more fitted and ribbed, and some are almost like a sweatshirt. We even have some tank Henleys coming in that are great for layering. I asked Madeline to style some Henley looks for us so we can wear them beyond the great outdoors. Or college bars.
