Here’s Where To Find the Answers to the Questions I’m Asked Most Often

I got to spend three weeks in Bermuda this July (rough life, I know). We rented a little cottage on top of a hill overlooking the harbor, oh sorry, I mean harbour. During that time, I received several questions as I watched the boats pass by: ”Where can I find that 30-minute workout video you did?” and “How can I do your online classes?” and “Have you ever considered offering online classes?” (I have for three years now), and “Where is that prenatal video we recorded years ago? How do I access it?”

These were all legitimate questions and they filed in daily as I sipped my Swizzles. My favorite was from Elizabeth Todd herself: “How do I  access your Venmo On Demand page” (True story, and it’s “Vimeo”). That question sparked this whole revelation…I needed another platform.

These questions come frequently throughout the year as well, and they’re all centered around the same things:

How do I get more of your exercise programs, and when are you doing another HAWT Pilates training?

So here it goes…Introducing! And although it has no “Venmo” option, one can find all of those answers in one easy spot. Think of it as an extension of the Mind the Mat studios where you can find my catalogued mobility routines and precise physical therapy exercise programs for your needs.

You will always find me at Mind the Mat. But when I am not there, check in with to find my:

  • — Online Programs including HAWT Pilates Boot Camp, Prenatal, and Therapeutics

  • — HAWT Pilates Trainings and Yoga Teacher Anatomy Trainings

  • — Physical Therapy Faculty information and speaking engagements

The online classes will continue to evolve as I add more content, including programs for back pain, plantar fasciitis, diastasis recti, and shoulder therapeutics. And yes, beginners! I will add Pilates fundamentals and gentle classes for all levels. All classes are tailored, prescribed, and results-oriented.  But it’s always better in person, so keep coming to class! Or, if you live in California, log on and join me.

And about that “When are you doing another HAWT Pilates training?” question. HAWT Pilates teacher training is that perfect anatomy meets fitness, meets biomechanics, meets more science, meets Pilates, meets functional training, all in one. If you are looking for this high level of instruction or have that friend who is, head to, along with, I’ll keep you updated here on the process.

I’d love to hear from you! What do you think of this platform? How is the layout? What programs would you like to access here? Please comment below or email me directly at

Megan Brown, physical therapist, Pilates instructor, mother and co-founder of Mind the Mat Pilates & Yoga in Alexandria, VA, likes to goof around. Yet her commitment to her students and her skill set in the field is no joke. After graduating from University of Virginia with a degree in Sports Medicine, Megan went on to receive her Masters in Physical Therapy and eventually her Doctorate in the profession. Although Pilates was never part of the plan, the method changed the way she treated patients, positively re-directed her career path and enhanced her own active lifestyle. Customized Pilates instruction is her specialty–she designs classes based on clients needs: athletes, new moms, rehabilitation or just for fun (why be serious all the time?). Pilates + Yoga is the best of both worlds, hence the creation of Mind the Mat studios providing classes for all—in every walk of life.

Mind the Mat Pilates & Yoga was founded in 2008 by Megan Brown, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Polestar Certified Practitioner of Pilates for Rehabilitation and Sara VanderGoot, Nationally Certified Massage Therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher (e-RYT 200, RYT 500). In their private practices as physical therapist and massage therapist respectively Megan and Sara observed that many of their clients were coming in with similar needs: relief for neck and shoulder tension and low back pain as well as a desire for more flexibility in hips and legs, stability in joints, and core strength.

Together Megan and Sara carefully crafted a curriculum of Pilates and yoga classes to address needs for clients who are pregnant, postpartum, have injuries or limitations, who are new to Pilates and yoga, and for those who are advanced students and are looking for an extra challenge.
