Karen: Are Pull ups and Chin ups the same thing? What is the difference?
Adrien, Fitness on the Run: Yes and no.
Yes, because both of them use many muscles that will strengthen your back, an area often ignored in popular fitness routines yet extremely important to core strength and proper posture. Obviously the same equipment is used. And both can be modified with the use or help of a box/step, bands or even another person.
No, because the hand position for the pull up is palm down, forcing you to use your back more. Because of the hand position of chin ups being palm up, you utilize more of your bicep. Bicep muscles get a lot of work in our daily lives and therefore are stronger than our backs.
