I had read about the cream in magazines and seen the deluge of articles and blog posts about it all over the internet. I knew that celebrities like Victoria Beckham were extolling the life changing virtues of the cream; and that Melanie Griffith and Diane Kruger are such devoted fans that they became investors. The list of celebrity fans who swear by this cream seems to grow daily. So, when I was approached to carry the line, suffice it to say I was more than a little intrigued.
Uncharacteristically, I decided to bring the line on without having tried it first. I can’t think of another instance in the past 15 years that this has been the case. The buzz was just so great, and customers were asking about it, so I decided to leap first and look later. When the product arrived, I was suddenly worried that it wouldn’t live up to the hype.
Why all the hype anyway? This cream was being touted as revolutionary. A completely different idea in skin care. It turns out that it’s creator, Dr. Augustinus Bader, had spent the prior thirty years working with burn victims. In that time, he developed something called the TFC-8 Factor that he put in a gel to help the regeneration of skin cells on burn patients. The factor activates stem cells, encouraging them to accelerate healing. “The cream introduces molecules that our skin would need to fix the skin properly,” says Bader. In other words, it creates the perfect environment for your cells to do what they need to do.
After having put it on one hand and looking at that hand several hours later during the training, I was shocked to see how much plumper and softer it was compared to my other hand. Of course, that could have been just because I moisturized that hand. But I couldn’t help but feel that it went beyond that.
Several nights later I decided to try the cream on my face. When I thought back to my hand an idea struck me. What if I just used the cream on one side of my face? Dr. Bader asks that the cream be used on the face after cleansing and toning. Nothing else is to go on the skin before the cream for 27 days (the duration in which every skin cell in the body is naturally regenerated). That’s right, there is only one cream. Well, technically there are two creams: one a lighter texture and one that’s richer. But they both do the same thing. You pick your texture. Sunscreen or facial oil can be applied on top. But no exfoliating should be done. I thought for sure that I would hate the experience…I decided to test my theory.
On the left side of my face, I applied only the Rich Cream by Augustinus Bader and on the right side I kept my normal morning and evening rituals and products. The morning after my first application I was sure that the left side of my face looked more even toned. Something else seemed different, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I followed the regimen the second day and when I woke on the morning of the third day, I instantly saw that the left side of my face appeared brighter and plumper. It was undeniable and others noticed it as well. By day four the skin on the left side of my face was not only brighter and plumper, but it appeared lifted as well. So much so, that I asked everyone who would listen which side I was trying out a new cream on. Every single person got it right. It was insane. My left eye appeared to be a bit higher than my right. I actually started to feel bad for the right side of my face. I couldn’t wait to put the cream on it. I had promised myself I’d give it a week, but I cracked and couldn’t do it. The difference was becoming too obvious.
Everyone wanted to know what I was using. I sold out of our initial order of the rich cream based purely on the evidence of my face. I’m excited to say that in twenty years of owning this business, I have never experienced results like these in such a short period of time. I also think it’s fading some dark spots.
I did ask about when I could put some of my beloved products back into rotation. I mean at the very least my Skinceuticals CE Ferulic and Zelens Power A drops are non-negotiable. Apparently, after the 27 days, I can use my serum (wait 15 minutes) and then follow with the Bader cream. I highly suggest watching the video of the trial he did with users and see the before and after photos. It seems logical that with my cells operating in an optimal environment, that my reintroduced products would be even more effective. I have two more weeks to go. I can’t wait to see what the whole 27 days brings.
