Let's Party: Happy 16th Birthday to The Shoe Hive!

We have an ongoing debate in our family about birthdays. Which birthdays are truly milestones to celebrate? We celebrated our kids’ one year birthdays because we thought it noteworthy that we had survived. We all celebrated 21, even if few of us can remember it. I celebrated turning 30 with a couples trip to Busch Gardens - I thought riding roller coasters all day would help me forget that it was truly time to get serious about adulthood. Most of us mark our 40th, or 50th, birthday as an entree to - dare I admit it - middle age.But there is no birthday as magical in my opinion as the Sweet 16th. That’s when we move from childhood to something bigger and more exciting - a time of recognition and anticipation. In many ways, The Shoe Hive was my first child; it predated all three of the dogs we have had, and the births of my son and daughter. And now, The Shoe Hive is about to have “her” Sweet Sixteenth. As all of you readers are part of her family, I want you to take part in the celebration!Of course we decided to throw a party! I hope you will join us on Thursday, October 17th for a Sweet 16 - Shoe Hive style. There will be food, festivities and 16 percent off at both stores (we don’t want to forget about the Hive). If you can’t make it to the party we will celebrate all weekend. As a small business owner I know the only reason I have been around this long is because of our loyal customers and a community that has embraced us. So thank you for 16 wonderful years. When I started this I wasn’t sure what the future would hold but every year I know how blessed I am to have kept my doors open and continue to do something I truly love.
