Holiday Happenings at Kiskadee

It's that time of year again. This year though, we have to do everything a bit differently. I've been asked more times than I can count what we are doing for the holidays, specifically Black Friday. I thought it would be a good idea to spill the beans earlier than normal so you all can plan out your shopping plan of attack. To kick off the holiday season, Kiskadee is hosting a trunk show for customer favorite Debra Fabian Designs. She will be here with all of her lovely jewelry starting Friday, November 13 – Sunday, November 15. She is offering 20 percent off that weekend. She has a whole new fall and holiday collection and I've already purchased a few pieces for myself and for gifts. We usually have Sunday Manday, but that is not happening this year. It gets crowded downstairs and outside and I can't imagine it'll be easy to eat and drink with masks. We will continue to have our online and in-person wish list program. You can create a wish list online here or in person at the store. If someone shops off of your wish list, they will get 10 percent off of their purchase. What we are doing for Black Friday is the biggest question we've received for over a month. Honestly, I've been thinking about this since June... trying to figure out what to do. We are the only local boutique to offer an hour at 40 percent off and it gets crazy in Kiskadee. We would be breaking all sorts of social distancing rules if we did the day like normal. That being said, we definitely wanted to offer some sort of fun shopping experience that allowed everyone a chance to shop safely. So, we will be doing an extended early Black Friday experience. Starting Friday, November 20  - Wednesday, November 25, the entire store will be 30 percent off. We will be closed on actual Black Friday. I figured it wasn't necessary to put my staff and me at risk or to have people wait outside for one day of deals. For Small Business Saturday, we are going to do our popular draw-a-discount and offer a free gift with any purchase of $50 or more. There will be several fun things going on in Del Ray that day - including a holiday pop-up market, live music, and food trucks. (The market, music, and food trucks will be on both Saturday and Sunday.) Additionally, the DRBA will sponsor a shopping passport program. This starts on Saturday, November 28 and ends on Friday, December 4. Shoppers who complete their passport will be entered to win creations from Art on the Avenue artisans. On Thursday, December 3rd, I will host FLORA Living + Design for an Evergreen Swag Workshop. Owner Amy Eggers is a local Del Ray designer and floral artist who teaches DIY classes in and around Alexandria. The event will be outside from 5:30pm - 7pm and the cost is $45. Don't worry… we will have a fire pit and a portable heater. The class is limited to six people, so buy your ticket early here. We may do a second one if there ends up being a waitlist.  Last but not least, we will be doing our 12 days of Kiskadee. This year we decided to make it a month-long event so that we could give people two days to get the special of the day. Starting on Monday, November 30, we will have a new special every two days. I don't want to inundate people's inboxes with these emails. Therefore, if you would like to get on the email list for these specials, please sign up here. We will, of course, announce via Instagram/Facebook as well, so please follow us along there. Here are a few other things going on. You can still make appointments for private shopping here. Smathers and Branson make a perfect gift. You can special order with this link. If you order through us, you get 20 percent off of your purchase. Additionally, we are working on a bundle similar to our Mother's Day and Father's Day bundle. As soon as we get the details worked out, we will announce that as well!Looking forward to seeing you all!
