New Brand Alert: Tribe Alive

I am constantly on the lookout for new and exciting brands to bring to Kiskadee. As a small business, it's one of the things I spend a lot of time on. Recently, I came across a black leather clutch by a brand called Tribe Alive. I did some digging on the brand and was really impressed with their mission. Even better, I loved the style. It’s simple, clean, but elegant.

Tribe Alive was founded in 2014 by Carly Burlson who put her years of fashion-industry experience to work designing goods that would enable artisan communities around the world to access the global marketplace. They focus on women artisans who are especially vulnerable to financial insecurity. They are proud to support women in five countries: Guatemala, Honduras, Haiti, India, and Peru. Did you know that 85 percent of the world's garment workers are women? Many are underpaid, overworked, and trapped in a cycle of poverty. The brand offers hope by employing many of these women, paying them a fair wage, and guaranteeing workplace safety.

Not only does Tribe Alive focus on helping impoverished women, sustainability is at the core of their mission. Their manufacturing process is free of toxic chemicals and dyes. They never use synthetic fibers and almost all of their products are made with upcycled or organic materials. From apparel to accessories, they design timeless pieces in classic silhouettes with high quality materials. They want their clothing to stay in your closet for years…not end up in a landfill in a matter of months.

We will receive our first shipment soon and I can’t wait to see it!
