Although I’ve found that people are generally not surprised by how widely price points range in Alexandria’s different neighborhoods, looking at homes side-to-side by the numbers can be a valuable exercise in determining exactly what you’re looking for in your home search. Are you searching for a certain number of bedrooms and bathrooms? Are you looking for a lot of space? Are you looking for an historic property or a new construction? Do you want to be able to walk to the Metro, or are you one of Uber’s favorite customers? It really depends on what you’re looking for, what’s important to you, and how much you want to invest, but in Alexandria, you can find it all.

This area has many factors that impact price, including but not limited to location, features, square footage, and lot size. In terms of location, Alexandria has an element of the city/suburbs real estate divide, with the price per square foot in Old Town generally being much higher than further down the GW Parkway due to walkability, transportation amenities, history, etc. Another location-dependent factor in our area is proximity to the water, with homes right on the Potomac River offered at much higher price points.
