Street Style: MB

Street Style MB (Mary Beth)

I started cycling and photographing at Ascend Cycle in October 2016. Immediately Kat, the owner, and I hit it off. Never did I guess the entire studio would become my extended family, specifically Mary Beth, aka MB, who has become more than just a best friend, she’s my big sister I never had.

I’ve photographed her many times for Ascend, and every time she blows the shoot out of the water. What’s more impressive than her outstanding beauty is her phenomenal personality. It’s advised that those with sensitive hearing wear earplugs around her. When she greets you, the entire block hears it, and all of a sudden you feel like the most important person in the world.

She treats every rider at Ascend like this, making the studio feel like home immediately. If you haven’t taken a class with MB, you need to sign up now; her classes book weeks in advance and always have a waitlist of six people or more.

If you are looking for an active community that is beyond fitness, promotes self-love, and will always make you feel like a superhero, take a look into Ascend. You will not be disappointed. So, without further ado, I introduce to you my best friend, MB.

I started photographing after rupturing my spleen while I was in high school. Yeah, it sounds made up, but I swear I’m telling the truth. was in marching band and happened to fall on my saxophone. This incident made it impossible for me to march for the remainder of the season. So, I did what any bored high school teenager does — started taking self portraits (at that time the word “selfie” was not invented). Turns out, I really enjoyed it! I started photographing everything and everyone. After graduation, I decided to head to Shepherd University for photography & digital imagery. My passion continued to grow as I started to photograph more conceptual themes, primarily the way women are viewed in modern media and the over editing that happens in the fashion industry. This is what has influenced and inspired my current work.

This is so sweet! MB’s classes at Ascend are always entertaining and challenging, love them!

  2. Avatar Lacey (Widder) Sampsel says:

MB and I went to undergrad together and she is one of the sweetest people on the planet that I have ever gotten a chance to know. I am so happy for her and all of her achievements — although I’m certainly not surprised she has done so well for herself. There should be more people in the world like MB. She’s the the type of role model that we should have our daughters look up to — not the trash you see on TV and in Hollywood. You could not have picked a more deserving person to feature.
