Stylist Challenge: 3 Looks Based on Height, Styled by Rosana

You’ve seen me rave before in this space about the awesome people I’ve met who are fashion entrepreneurs in our great little cobblestone corner of America, but my circle of inspiration is not just on this side of the Potomac.

I met Rosana years ago when she owned a store in D.C.; our shops opened around the same time and I was eager to see this store in the city that was all the buzz. It lived up to the hype, carrying brands that were at the time unknown, like Rag & Bone and Victoria Beckham. Rosana knew they were amazing before the rest of us knew they were amazing.

Fast forward more than a decade later and our paths crossed again with Alexandria Stylebook. We’ve been proud to have her team of stylists, DC Style Factory, as a partner since our earliest days. I always look forward reading the posts from the women at DC Style Factory; they have such unique perspectives and put things together in ways I never would have had the vision to see.

They are a talented and kind group of women who are all pros. One of my friends used Rosana’s styling services and she could not stop talking about what a great experience she had. She had not cleaned out her closet in years and struggled with getting dressed and out the door in the morning. Then the DC Style Factory team came to the rescue! They filled bags and bags of clothes that had seen better days, organized what she had, shopped a few days later to fill the holes, and put together outfits so she could get dressed with confidence and feel good about what she was wearing.

Let’s face it, when you look good you feel good and sometimes we all need help getting there.

I think this is a testament to the type person Rosana is. She attracts the best available talent because she is the best herself. A mom of three, she walks the walk when it comes to being busy, but not losing her sense of style. And in our busy city, isn’t that the aspiration for us all?

As part of our Stylist Challenge series, I asked Rosana to style looks adapted for short and tall silhouettes.

I spent the first part of my career as a copy-writer who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive. At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.

Heard the buzz? The Shoe Hive & The Hive are a pair of luxury boutiques in Old Town Alexandria. Featuring both big name designers like Rag & Bone and Stuart Weitzman and smaller brands like AGL and L'Agence, our unique selection and impeccable service are what set us apart.
