How Do You Thank Those Who Deserve It Most?

This weekend is Mother’s Day and this week is Teacher Appreciation Week so you have some shopping to do, my friends. How do you thank the people who do the most? The folks that shape you into the adults you are today? It’s always a little daunting, especially when you want to show your appreciation in a sincere way. Lucky for you Penny Post and Red Barn Mercantile we have just what you need to do that. Here are a few of our favorite ideas for Mom and teachers…

Gifts for Mom

These gold-fill necklaces are hand-stamped with your mom’s initial. Each necklace comes with one charm, but consider adding the initials of some of mom’s favorite people such as yourself! (Available at Red Barn Mercantile, single charm necklace $36, additional charms $9 each)The natural linen carry all tote is soft, durable, and perfect for carrying all Mom’s essentials. Made from 100-percent linen in France, this tote comes in Indigo, Red, and Olive in addition to the Flax color shown here.  (Available at Red Barn Mercantile, $132)Farmhouse Pottery’s Laurel Crocks are perfect for everything from kitchen utensils to potted herbs to looking pretty on a shelf. Hand made in Vermont, these crocks come in four sizes, one that is surely the right fit for your mom. (Available at Red Barn Mercantile, $25-$75)We are proud to be carrying Anchal Project’s pillows in the store this Mother’s Day. Anchal Project is a non-profit whose mission is to “address the exploitation of women around the world by using design thinking to create employment opportunities, services, and products that support empowerment.” Beautiful pillows and a beautiful mission is a gift to everyone. (Available at Red Barn Mercantile, $86)

Gifts for Teacher

Forget the ol' standby composition notebook and treat your teachers to something they will enjoy using when writing lesson plans. Appointed notebooks come in a wide range of colors that will suit teachers from shop class to art class and everything in between. (Available at Penny Post, $25)Upgrade your teacher’s #2 pencil with Blackwing’s Volume 16.2. This pencil is an ode to mathematician, writer, and visionary Ada Lovelace. The pencil features a matte white finish and a matte black ferrule inspired by the simple styling of early personal computers. It features Blackwing’s firm graphite formulation ideal for both writing and mathematics. (Available at Penny Post, Set of 12 for $30)If a pen is more your teacher’s style then how about something smooth from the Swiss? The hues of Caran d’Ache’s Infinite Ballpoint Pen collection encompass a cheery rainbow of colors. Created in the Geneva workshops of the Maison, this pretty pen will enhance the writing experience and bring a little ray of sunshine into your teacher’s day. (Available at Penny Post, $8)If you’re going for something sweet and simple, then a lovely vase with even lovelier flowers make a wonderful gift for your favorite teachers. It’s something they will enjoy at home and at work! (Available at Red Barn Mercantile, $14) These are just a sampling of the things you can find at both stores. Hopefully they are just what you need, or, at the very least, they have inspired you to think of something wonderful. If you still need help then please stop by Penny Post and Red Barn Mercantile and we would be happy to help you find the perfect gift. Happy Mother’s Day to my fellow Moms and thank you times a million to all our teachers!
