Every woman needs a couple of items in her wardrobe that save her time, save her money, and make her style look effortless. Often we consider dresses as having this type of magical power. After all, everything is encompassed in one solitary piece. No argument here, however I would like to put an idea in front of you. When considering your options for the warmer months, know that you can build into dresses as the weather gets warmer. Utilizing pants and white denim before the D.C. heat sets in is a strategic way to get the most out of everything you own during the next two seasons.
Adding a few new tops to accent your pants and white denim can be just as easy as effortless dresses. Tamara stumbled on a new brand at market back in September. It’s called Aldo Martins and is designed and made in Barcelona. They are vibrant with color, texture, and the quality is exceptional.
I’ve adapted a moniker for tops like this from a client who calls such pieces “I tried” tops. Basically by simply wearing one, you look as if you’ve spent much more thought on your outfit than you actually have. In many cases these clutch tops have far greater impact than a meager “I tried” and become dynamic “I succeeded” secrets by simply adding any of spring’s on-trend bottoms: white denim, boot-cut flare denim, or the unfinished hem wide leg canvas pants (all available at TSALT).
The other “I tried” tops are from H.One. Tamara and I discovered this brand on our first trip to market for the fall collection, which became a major hit among clients. On the contrary, neither of us was as impressed with what spring offered…at first. Funny how time can alter your initial feelings towards a collection. Now that these pieces have arrived, they have easily become some of our best sellers and staff favorites. H.One offers tops around $70 that easily look as though they would retail for more. One is reminiscent of a Missoni sweater and is offered in two variations.
Others have a sportier feel and can easily be worn with another spring trend — the track pant and trainers. All of these offer great options to your workout clothing and would be great for taking on vacations. Even if you favor dresses and skirts, these sweaters can be incorporated as pullovers in lieu of cardigans for cooler evenings or an overactive AC environment.
I hope you’ll take a moment and stop in to ask about both Aldo Martins and H.One. Everyone could use at least one or two “I tried” tops in their spring wardrobe that you will surely turn into a stylish understatement.
